Register for classes at any recreation center during their normal operating hours by phone or in person, OR you can register online using SPARC: class.seattle.gov/parks/Start/Start.asp. Do you have questions about any of these classes? Please call Cheryl Brown at 206-386-9106 for supply lists and more information. All classes will be held at the Seattle Japanese Garden.
Watercolor classes allow you to explore the beauty of the gardens in paint with instructor Jan Morris. Explore shapes, textures and color in this fun class for participants of all skill levels. Please bring what supplies you have on hand to the first class and instructor will discuss supplies.
Wednesdays, 2/8 – 3/14, 3 to 5 p.m., $75 — Course # 79306
Mixed Media Photography gives you the opportunity to improve your camera and composition skills by photographing the Japanese Garden with exclusive early morning and evening classes. This class is for all visual artists with any camera and any level of experience. Please bring a laptop computer and digital camera. There will be a show of student work after the class. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructor, professional photographer Ray Pfortner.

Ikebana is the art of Japanese flower arranging. The beauty of this art form is its simplicity. It can be done anywhere, anytime and with anything you can find. The basic Sogetsu curriculum teaches you principles of space, balance, and color to help you develop the artistic sense you will need to create freestyle arrangements on your own.
